Insurance for manufacturers
From the smallest mechanical parts to the largest components of complex machinery, we arrange insurance for manufacturers Australia-wide.
Whether you make food, textiles, cement, electronics, timber, or mining and construction products, it is important to have the right insurance in place before you start operations.
Manufacturing has a wide range of risks
Manufacturing has been a backbone of the Australian economy for decades. Despite challenging economic times pushing some production offshore, it is still critical that your manufacturing business is covered for its specific needs.
Manufacturers are particularly exposed to a wide variety of risks. We work with insurers to source policies covering property loss or damage, professional indemnity, business interruption, public and products liability and marine transit, as well as more specialised covers such as product recall and trade credit.
Your business is unique, so we work closely with you to identify the risks in your operations and source suitable cover at a competitive price.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need products liability if I only make parts for other companies?
Usually, yes. A component you make can be part of a claim when a finished product fails. Many customers also require you to hold products liability with a minimum limit.
What is product recall insurance?
It can cover the costs of recalling a product from the market, such as notification, transport and disposal, where the policy responds. It is usually separate from products liability.
Is machinery breakdown covered by a standard property policy?
Not usually. Sudden breakdown of machinery is typically a separate section or policy, and business interruption after breakdown may need to be added.
What details do insurers need for a manufacturing quote?
Typically your products, processes, turnover, export markets, premises and fire protection, and your claims history.
