Insurance for real estate agents and property managers
From sales agencies and property management rent rolls to buyers agents, commercial leasing and strata-adjacent services, we arrange insurance for real estate businesses Australia-wide.
Agencies handle large sums of trust money, sensitive client data and advice that people rely on for their biggest financial decisions. We compare cover across a range of insurers and help you put the right protection in place.
Covers to consider
Every business is different. Depending on what you do, a sensible program may include:
Professional indemnity
Claims alleging a negligent act, error or omission in your professional services, such as appraisal errors, misrepresentation or property management mistakes. Many states require agents to hold PI.
Public liability
Injury to people or damage to property at open homes, inspections, auctions and your office.
Management liability
Directors and officers, employment practices, statutory liability and crime cover, including employee theft from your business.
Cyber insurance
Email compromise, fake bank-detail fraud, ransomware and data breaches, including notification and recovery costs.
Business pack
Office contents, fit-out, glass, theft, electronic equipment and business interruption in one policy.
Portable equipment
Laptops, tablets, phones, cameras and signage that travel to listings and inspections.

Real risks we help you plan for
Funds transfer fraud
Hacked email accounts and fake invoices can redirect a deposit or settlement to a criminal account.
Property management disputes
Landlords may claim that a tenant was poorly screened, inspections were missed or arrears were not followed up.
Misrepresentation
Statements about zoning, size, condition or expected returns can lead to claims from buyers or vendors.
Open home incidents
A visitor trips on a step or a valuable goes missing while the property is open.
Employment issues
Disputes over commissions, termination or workplace conduct with sales staff and property managers.
Trust account issues
Errors or dishonesty involving trust money can trigger investigations and losses.

Frequently asked questions
Is professional indemnity compulsory for real estate agents?
It depends on your state or territory and your licence type. Some jurisdictions require PI as a licence condition, and many franchise groups and landlords expect it regardless. We can check what applies to you and arrange suitable limits.
Does PI cover me if a landlord says we chose a bad tenant?
Property management claims are a common source of PI claims, and many policies respond to allegations of negligent property management. Cover depends on the policy wording, so we look for policies that suit rent roll businesses.
Are we covered if a client's deposit is sent to a scammer?
Not automatically. Funds transfer fraud may be covered under some cyber, crime or management liability policies, often with sub-limits and conditions such as call-back verification. We explain where this cover sits and how to strengthen it.
What is run-off cover and do I need it when I sell my agency?
PI is usually written on a claims-made basis, so a claim about past work can arrive after you sell or close. Run-off cover protects that past work. It is worth arranging before a sale or retirement.
Can you insure a single-agent business or home office?
Yes. We arrange cover for sole agents and small offices as well as larger agencies, and we service clients Australia-wide by phone and email.
