Insurance for cafes and restaurants
From small country cafes to cosmopolitan restaurants and fine dining, we arrange hospitality insurance for food and beverage businesses Australia-wide.
From the kitchen to the dining table, the risks of running a food business are unique. We work closely with you to identify them and source suitable cover at a competitive price.
Cover for a busy kitchen and a full dining room
Restaurants and cafes create jobs, buy from local suppliers and give locals and visitors a place to meet. That kind of responsibility should be backed by a comprehensive insurance program.
In the commotion of a busy kitchen and restaurant, the potential for something to go wrong is real, from kitchen fires to food poisoning and everything in between. When the unexpected happens, you need insurance that addresses your specialised needs and protects the business, your staff and your customers.
Restaurants, cafes and fine dining venues are often grouped together, but each has different risks and needs. We work with you and your insurers to find a solution that fits, using our buying power to negotiate on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions
Is food spoilage covered if the power goes out?
Many hospitality policies offer spoilage cover for stock in fridges and freezers after breakdown or a power outage, often with limits and waiting periods. We check what yours includes.
Are customers covered if they get sick from our food?
Products liability, usually included with public liability, can cover claims for illness or injury caused by food you serve, subject to policy terms.
Do I need extra cover for outdoor dining?
Footpath and outdoor seating areas are often covered under your public liability, but councils usually require a certificate of currency with a minimum limit, so we check this when your permit is renewed.
Is my commercial kitchen equipment covered if it breaks down?
Not under standard contents cover. Machinery breakdown cover can pay for repairs to coffee machines, fridges and ovens after a sudden breakdown.
Does my policy cover a fire caused in our kitchen?
Fire is a standard insured event in most business packs, but insurers may require kitchen exhaust cleaning and fire suppression to be maintained. Keep records of servicing.
Can you cover a food truck or catering business?
Yes. Food trucks and caterers can be covered for the vehicle, equipment, stock and liability at events, subject to insurer acceptance.
