Key risks we help you plan for
Theft and break-ins
After-hours burglary, shoplifting and smash-and-grab damage to doors, glass and display cases.
Customer injuries
Slips, trips and falling stock in your aisles can lead to public liability claims.
Products liability
Selling products, including imported goods, can expose you if an item causes injury or damage.
Fire, storm and water damage
A single event can destroy stock and fit-out and close your doors for weeks.
Lost trading income
Business interruption helps cover lost gross profit and ongoing costs while you recover.
Cyber and payment fraud
POS systems, online stores and fake invoice scams are a growing risk for retailers.

Frequently asked questions
Is my stock covered for seasonal peaks?
Many retail policies can include an automatic seasonal stock increase for periods such as Christmas. Limits and conditions vary, so we check the wording and help you set an appropriate sum insured.
Does my landlord’s insurance cover my shop fit-out?
Usually not. A landlord’s policy generally covers the building, while your fit-out, stock and contents typically need to be insured under your own policy. Check your lease for what you are required to insure.
Do I need products liability if I only resell goods?
Retailers can still be held liable for products they sell, especially imported items where the manufacturer is hard to reach. Products liability is commonly combined with public liability.
Can you insure an online store?
Yes. We can look at cover for stock held at home or in a warehouse, goods in transit, products liability and cyber, depending on how you trade.
